Aston Villa are reportedly one of the clubs interested in Brentford attacker Said Benrahma after a potential move to West Ham United stalled.
The Telegraph reports that the Villains are considering a bid for the 25-year-old wide-man who was an integral part of his club’s route to the Championship play-off final last season.
The Algeria international netted 17 times in 46 games for the Bees last term, providing 10 assists along the way. He also formed part of a front three trio with Ollie Watkins, who has since moved to Villa, and Bryan Mbuemo.
Watkins has already made an instant impact in Dean Smith’s side, scoring a first-half hat-trick in Villa’s 7-2 rout over Premier League champions Liverpool earlier this month.
Indeed it is hoped that this feat would make Villa a more attractive prospect for Benrahma.
West Ham have been frontrunners in the race for his signature but complications in negotiations have opened a window of opportunity for other possible top-flight suitors, with the EFL transfer window closing on Friday.
The Mirror reports that the London outfit had offered £17million over three years plus £8million in add-ons.
Although interested, Aston Villa are yet to submit a bid, the source states.
The Hammers are now setting their sights on Bournemouth striker Josh King. However an initial £13m bid for the Norwegian was rejected by the Cherries, who are looking for around £17.5million for the 28-year-old.
Premier League rivals Arsenal, Crystal Palace and Leeds United have also been linked with a move for the winger.

Medical date had been set
Benrahma was due to have a medical at West Ham on Wednesday following Algeria’s friendly with Mexico on Tuesday evening.
However, The Mirror adds that because David Moyes is mooting at a deal for King, the deal for Benrahma could fall through.
Brentford co-director of football Phil Giles will now make a last ditch attempt to salvage the deal by sitting down with the player when he returns from international duty.
