Chelsea winger Willian has dismissed claims he has held ‘secret talks’ with Jose Mourinho over a move to Tottenham.
The Blues star’s contract at Stamford Bridge is set to expire at the end of the season, with negotiations stalling as the Brazil international holds out for a three-year extension – something Chelsea are refusing to offer.
Talks have come to a standstill and recent reports have suggested Tottenham and Arsenal may be looking to capitalise by offering Willian a contract to join ahead of next season.
Jose Mourinho is a big admirer of the forward and other reports have suggested the pair have been in contact over a potential deal in the summer.
But Willian has insisted he has not spoken to the Portuguese – either in face or over the telephone.
The 31-year-old said: “I haven’t had any contact with Mourinho recently.
“Over here, when you enter the country from abroad, you have to spend a period in self-isolation.
“Even now, I still haven’t left my house once. So when I saw the story about meeting with Jose it took me completely by surprise.

“I haven’t even spoken to him on the phone – and I haven’t met with him either, because I haven’t been out.
“So quite honestly, this story isn’t true.
“Obviously, I’ve got a good relationship with him and sometimes we exchange messages.
“But recently there has been nothing like that.”
Willian has been a crucial member of Chelsea’s squad since joining the club for £30m in 2013 from Shakhtar Donetsk, scoring 33 goals in 226 Premier League appearances and helping the Blues to two league titles and triumphs in the FA Cup, Carabao Cup and Europa League.
