Dortmund chief breaks silence on classy attacker’s Arsenal links

The transfer links between Arsenal and a Borussia Dortmund attacker have been addressed by the club’s Sporting Director, Michael Zorc.

Arsenal have begun to turn their ship around after an excruciatingly slow start to the campaign.

Back-to-back wins over Chelsea and Brighton were achieved, but in order to aid their mini-revival, January reinforcements may soon arrive.

A recent report detailed a Celtic star who has emerged as a budget target. With the transfer kitty expected to be small, value options could be on the menu.

Regardless of the cost, one area which requires immediate attention is in the creative department.

With quality service severely restricted, club talisman Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has notched a measly three league goals thus far.

Borussia Dortmund playmaker Julian Brandt had been rumoured to be on the club’s radar to remedy the situation.

Indeed, the latest report indicated his potential arrival was a talking point in the Arsenal dressing room.

However, the German side’s Sporting Director, Michael Zorc, has now moved to address the speculation.

FootballLondon (citing Sport1) quote Zorc as saying: “No one has contacted us, there is nothing on the table – and not even in the fax machine.

“That’s all I can say.”

If Arsenal’s interest in Brandt is not acted upon, a move for ex-Tottenham star Christian Eriksen could be launched.

Rising Hungarian Dominik Szoboszlai’s name had frequently been mentioned, though RB Leipzig secured his signature in mid-December.

Arteta urged to ship three out

Meanwhile, pundit and former Arsenal striker Kevin Campbell says Gunners boss Mikel Arteta should be decisive in the January transfer window and send three stars out on loan.

Sead Kolasinac’s loan move to German side Schalke has already been given the green light.

And Arteta has stated that offloading players is a priority.

With that in mind, Campbell has identified three Gunners players who would benefit from getting more first-team action elsewhere.
