Euro Paper Talk: Klopp looks to get one over Pochettino by making contact with dream Liverpool signing; Arsenal move for Brazilian striker

Liverpool are looking to further their bid to land Jurgen Klopp’s dream signing after holding another round of talks, Leeds have been dealt a blow in the chase for Rodrigo de Paul, while Arsenal are looking towards a Real Madrid striker, according to Tuesday’s Euro Paper Talk.

MBAPPE TALKS FOR KLOPP

Jurgen Klopp is looking to take advantage of the upheaval at PSG by boosting Liverpool efforts to sign Kylian Mbappe.

The 22-year-old France striker has just 18 months left on his deal with PSG and talks have been held over an extension.

But big-name suitors continue to hover, with Real Madrid looking to bring the player to the Spanish capital.

However, Tuesday’s edition of Sport claims Klopp has once again been in touch with the player. They state Klopp ‘maintains contact’ with Mbappe and is looking to have the forward ‘at his command at Liverpool’.

That would come as a huge blow to new PSG boss Mauricio Pochettino. As per Sport, they claim Pochettino has made securing Mbappe to a new deal his first major objective at the Parc des Princes.

And while Mbappe appears open to playing for Pochettino, it’s claimed Liverpool remain strong rivals for his signature.

Quite what the fee for Mbappe would be is anyone’s guess. By the time the summer rolls around, he will have just 12 months left on his deal, should an extention fail to be agreed.

That would leave PSG particularly vulnerable to his sale. That said, Liverpool would still likely need to smash their transfer record to sign him.

Last summer, Mbappe was extremely complimentary of the Anfield side: “What Liverpool do in this moment is amazing.

“They’re like a machine, they’ve found a rhythm and are like we play again, we play again. They’ve lost zero games. When you watch you think everything is easy but that’s not easy.

“The guys are focused, they play games every three days and they win, they win, they win.”
