Euro Paper Talk: Liverpool transfer approach changes as Real Madrid star enters Klopp’s sights; Goal machine snubs Man Utd

Liverpool change their approach in the hunt for a new defender – with a Real Madrid star in their sights – while a prolific goalscorer snubs Manchester United – all in the latest Euro Paper Talk.

Liverpool have changed their approach in the hunt for a new centre-back and have enquired about signing Real Madrid’s Sergio Ramos, according to a report.

The Reds have suffered harshly with key injuries at the back this season. Indeed, all three senior options in the centre of defence are currently out injured.

As such, several names are on their radar as they look to plug their gap.

Previous reports have named youngsters such as 20-year-old pair Sven Botman and Ozan Kabak as potential additions. The Lille and Schalke stars, respectively, would lack the experience of an older signing but offer hope of a longer-term impact.

Indeed, further speculation has claimed that Liverpool are not looking for a quick-fix this month. Instead, club chiefs are insistent that any addition must be able to add to the team going forward.

However, El Chiringuito claims that the Anfield club have registered serious interest in Ramos. The 34-year-old’s contract in the Spanish capital expires in June and, as such, he is now free to talk to clubs from abroad.

Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane has expressed his desire to see the defender commit his future to the capital club. However, there has been relative silence over his situation.

El Chiringuito says that Klopp has ‘knocked on Ramos’ door’ over a potential transfer to Merseyside.

Manchester City are also reportedly keen.
