Manchester United have put the wheels in motion to make a double €85m January transfer spash to raise morale, while Real Madrid are casting admiring glances towards a Liverpool teenager, according to Wednesday’s Euro Paper Talk.
CAMAVINGA IS TOP MAN UTD TARGET
Manchester United have reportedly set the wheels in motion to sign Eduardo Camavinga in January.
The Rennes teenager is coveted by some of the world’s top clubs and has already made his senior debut for France.
United and Real Madrid are the two clubs said to be keen to land him.
But with Paul Pogba – via his agent Mino Raiola – pushing hard to leave, United now appear in the driving seat.
As per AS, United want Camavinga as an immediate replacement for his compatriot.
Furthermore, it states they have already made contact with Rennes over the possibility of a January deal. In addition they are willing to pay €50m to land their man.
Pogba earns around €15m a season at United, while Camavinga earns just €2m at Rennes. He’d land a mammoth pay-rise at United, while the Red Devils would be saving should they move Pogba on. Reports on Wednesday suggest a swap deal for a Juventus star could be in the offing.
It’s thought Camavinga’s drive, hunger and energy would be a perfect replacement for Pogba in the United midfield.
Real’s interest could drive the price up higher, but their priorities are focused on funding a summer move for Kylian Mbappe.
Trippier also on the radar
And it’s suggested Ole Gunnar Solskjaer wants Camavinga signed to give his squad a January lift. Fresh after crashing out of the Champions League, Solskjaer knows he needs something to raise morale. Furthermore, it’s hoped Camavinga could impact them in the same way Bruno Fernandes did last January.
Camavinga might not be the only player arriving at Old Trafford in January.
As per Don Balon, United are willing to pay Atletico Madrid €35m to convince them to sell Kieran Trippier next month.
Trippier has been mentioned as a target again as Solskjaer looks to bring in a more attacking alternative to Aaron Wan-Bissaka at right-back.
Atletico are determined not to sell, but a €35m offer could talk them into his sale.
