Euro Paper Talk: Man Utd to sell five as Solskjaer eyes €90m upgrade for error-prone star; Arsenal free to sign €50m man

Manchester United have decided to spend big on a replacement for an error-prone star, while Arsenal can finally sign their top target in a €50m deal, according to Monday’s Euro Paper Talk.

Manchester United will reportedly offload five first-team squad men this summer to fund a deal for Kalidou Koulibaly.

Koulibaly has become one of the strongest defenders in the world during his time in Naples. However, after six years there, it may be time to move on.

Man Utd have been following the Senegalese centre-back for a long time. Napoli’s price demands have always been a problem, though.

Napoli though have confirmed he can leave this summer though and have stuck a €90m (£81.5m) price on his head.

The Italian side’s president Aurelio Di Laurentiis said recently: “Kalidou is a great person, I would be terribly sad to lose him. But there is a time for everything, even to move apart.”

However, United now look ready to pay the asking price for the defender. That’s after a report deemed that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has finally accepted he needs better than Victor Lindelof in the United defence.

The Swede was caught ball-watching as Luuk de Jong fired Sevilla’s winner during Sunday’s Europa League semi-final.

That prompted a heated argument with Bruno Fernandes, with the Portuguese midfielder since explaining the row.

However, it seems Solskjaer has decided enough is enough and wants Koulibaly bought as an immediate upgrade.

Furthermore, 90mins claim United plan to offload five stars to fund the deal for the Senegalese defender.

They claim Phil Jones, Chris Smalling and Marcos Rojo will all make way in defence and could raise around £30m between them.

United also plan to offload Jesse Lingard to the highest bidder. His connection with super-agent Mino Raiola means a move abroad looks most likely. United would look to pocket up to €20m (£18m) for the homegrown star.

United also look set to cash in on Andreas Pereira. Spanish paper AS are reporting that he will leave Old Trafford for Valencia in a €20m deal this summer. The Brazilian has decided he needs to move on for the sake of his career.

The sale of the quintet should see United pocket around €60m and with just €30m to make up to sign Koulibaly.
