Isco reasons for snubbing Arsenal and Everton move revealed

Reports in Spain claim Real Madrid’s Isco wants to join Sevilla next summer and will snub the opportunity to play in the Premier League.

The 28-year-old’s time at the Bernabeu seems to be coming to an end. Having been first choice for many seasons, the 28-year-old now finds himself down the pecking order.

The Spain international has made just three starts among 10 La Liga appearances in 2020-2021. He has been linked with a number of clubs, with Everton and Arsenal thought to be keen.

The Gunners’ interest seems to have waned, with reports they are now targeting Isco’s Real team-mate Houssem Aouar.

Everton boss Carlo Ancelotti has also denied that he wants to sign the talented schemer.

The Italian told DIRECTV SportCo back in November: “It is not true that I am behind Isco. We haven’t started thinking about the team for the January market.”

It seems as though the player has ended speculation, if the report in AS is to be believed. They suggest that he wants to work under Julen Lopetegui once again after the pair shared time together at Malaga.

Sevilla are through to the Champions League last-16 where they will face Borussia Dortmund over two legs. A move to Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan in January would mean Isco could not feature in that competition this term.

He has played 13 minutes of Champions League football for Real and would need to focus on the league. There is no official word from the player himself and many rumours do the rounds at this time of year.

But it is said that Isco is keen to stay in Spain and not uproot sticks for the Premier League. He is under contract in Madrid until the summer of 2022 and would cost in the region of €20m.

Gunners go down another route

Arsenal’s need for creativity in the middle of the park has been well documented. They stopped the rot with a 3-1 victory over Chelsea but it may have just papered over the cracks.

Sporting director Edu has made it clear they will sign a creative midfielder in January. Isco was thought to be top of their wish list but that route has now been closed.

Money talks in football, however, and a big offer may tempt Real into selling in January. It remains to be seen if he gets his move to Sevilla but other clubs will doubtless be keen.
