Jurgen Klopp blocks loan move for £20m Liverpool man

Liverpool will not be sending Harry Wilson out on loan this season, according to the Liverpool Echo.

Wilson, 23, has made three different loan moves over the last three years, with the latter two at Derby and Bournemouth being extremely productive.

In fact Wilson managed seven goals in 35 appearances for Bournemouth last season and that has sparked plenty of interest in the midfielder.

Newcastle, Leeds and Southampton are all believed to have contacted Liverpool about a deal for Wilson.

However, any transfer for Wilson this season will have to be a permanent one after Liverpool decided Wilson will not be leaving on loan again.

The Echo report that the club are unequivocal and that Wilson will not be leaving on loan.

“Put up or shut up is essentially the message for any interested parties, say Anfield sources,” according to the local paper.

The asking price had been mooted at £20m in a previous report by the Daily Mirror, and the report concurs with that asking price.

With the financial impact of Covid-19 restricting the club’s transfer budget, Jurgen Klopp and Michael Edwards see “little value in loaning out their fringe stars”.

With that in mind Klopp is apparently more than happy to use Wilson in a season which kicks off on September 12 and concludes on May 23.

Liverpool hatch White plan

Meanwhile, Liverpool will monitor the progress of Ben White this season with a view to making a bid next summer.

White is ready to embark on his first season in the Premier League after signing a new contract with Brighton.

The defender seriously impressed on loan at Leeds United last season, helping them win promotion. However, despite making a number of bids, Leeds could not take him back to Elland Road.

Instead, Brighton stood their ground, and managed to secure White’s future by tying him down to a new four-year contract.

It is likely that White’s name will appear in the gossip columns again in the coming months, though. Leeds were not the only team tracking him, with Liverpool also watching on.

And according to the Liverpool Echo, the Premier League champions will be watching White’s every move this season.
