Jurgen Klopp reportedly wants to set up a private meeting with Timo Werner to convince him to join Liverpool.
Werner reportedly has a £51million release clause in his contract, which runs until 2023.
German outlet Bild claim Klopp is keen to meet with the 24-year-old to sell his vision of Liverpool’s future plans.
The report adds the pair would have likely already met if it was not for the coronavirus pandemic, which has put a halt to everyday life.
Werner has been in red-hot form in the Bundesliga this season, scoring 21 goals in 24 appearances.
Only Bayern Munich’s Robert Lewandowski (25) has netted more times than him this season.
The Germany forward scored the game’s only goal in the last-16 first leg victory in north London, before registering an assist in the reverse tie.
In February, Werner was full of praise for Liverpool when asked about his transfer links to the club.
He said: “I know that Liverpool is the best team at the moment in the world. When you’re linked with that team it makes me very proud.
“It’s a pleasure but I know that Liverpool have a lot of good players and I have to improve myself, to learn much more things to get on this level to play there.”
