Liverpool legend decrees what Sancho must do in Man Utd transfer saga

Liverpool legend John Barnes has revealed what he believes Jadon Sancho must now do amid Man Utd’s ailing transfer hopes, and said another year at Dortmund may infact be to Utd’s benefit.

The Red Devils’ pursuit of Sancho has become the number one transfer story of the summer.

Dortmund were reportedly left ‘bemused’ by Utd’s transfer methods, though the latest report did offer fresh hope.

Whether Sancho does wind up at Old Trafford remains to be seen, but ex-Red Barnes believes neither party can have any complaints if the deal does not go through.

Speaking exclusively to BonusCodeBetsthe former England winger said: “Jadon Sancho has to play for the team whose paying him.

“If Manchester United wanted him then they should have paid the money; if they don’t pay the money, they can’t get him.

“So, neither Manchester United nor Jadon Sancho can complain as Manchester United didn’t pay the fee Borussia Dortmund asked for.”

Should Sancho remain in Germany, Barnes believes the extra year where he is currently settled could actually benefit all concerned.

“I don’t think one more years’ experience in Germany will hurt him at all, “he added.

“It’ll give him a chance to show that he can perform consistently.

“If he has another good season then Manchester United will probably pay the money for him next year, as he’s still young enough.

“If he doesn’t have another good season, would he have had been good enough for Manchester United anyway? So, having another year to play and grow in Germany, with less pressure, is not a bad thing.

“Being upset that he didn’t go to Manchester United and wallowing in a bad attitude would not be the right thing for him to do now.

“He should knuckle down and prove to the world that he is worth the €120 million.”

Man Utd set to succeed where Chelsea failed?

Manchester United are monitoring Ben Chilwell’s situation after divisions formed in Chelsea’s planned move for the Leicester left-back, according to reports.

Chelsea are allegedly keen on a move for the England international to resolve their issues at left-back. Boss Frank Lampard is uncertain whether Marcos Alonso and Emerson Palmieri fit his remit.

However, reliable journalist David Ornstein has more recently claimed that senior Blues figures disagree over a move for Chiwell.

Leicester have quoted Chelsea around £80million for the defender. Indeed, the Foxes could demand that the west London club make him the world’s most expensive defender.

The Daily Mirror backs up Ornstein’s initial claim, reporting that Leicester’s price tag “stunned Chelsea officials.

The newspaper continues by claiming there are several other Champions League sides, including United, watching on.
