More trouble for Gareth Bale as Spanish source makes alarming claim over Tottenham future

Tottenham have already decided they won’t extend Gareth Bale’s second spell at Tottenham into a second season after a report claimed he had ‘not lived up to Jose Mourinho’s expectations’.

Bale has only featured in 11 of Spurs’ 23 matches in all competitions since arriving on loan from the Spanish giants.

The Wales winger has failed to convince Mourinho that he is worth a regular place in the side, with the Portuguese still having some concerns over his fitness levels.

Real had hoped that the 31-year-old could revive his career in north London. The idea was for him to turn his loan into a permanent switch. That way Real could trim £650,000-a-week off their wage bill.

Real boss Zinedine Zidane wants to splash the cash in 2021, having not added to his squad last summer.

Outstanding forwards Erling Braut Haaland and Kylian Mbappe are both on Real’s radar, with the latter likely to cost around £200million.

However, those plans look in serious disarray amid reports in Spain on Saturday. As per Mundo Deportivo, they claim Mourinho and Spurs have already decided against extending the arrangement.

In the article, they state ‘Bale doesn’t triumph at Tottenham’. They write Mourinho has already decided not to keep a player who ‘goes from injury to injury’.

Furthermore, they write that Bale has ‘not lived up to expectations’ during his second stint at Spurs.

With no chance of making the loan permanent, or even extending into a second season, Bale looks now to be facing an uncertain future.

Mundo Deportivo concludes that with Spurs ‘willing to return’ the wide-man to Real, the Spanish giants will now explore new ways to offload him from their books.

Bale may face Marine in FA Cup

Mourinho, meanwhile, revealed that Bale could return to the squad to face Marine on Sunday, if he gets through a training session on Saturday.

The Wales winger has been sidelined with a calf injury since the Carabao Cup win over Stoke, but is now back in training.

“He trained today [Friday] first time with us so tomorrow [Saturday] second time and tomorrow after training we will make a decision,” Mourinho said.

“What I can say and it’s also a way to show you the way we are looking, the respect we have for this fixture, is that Gareth told me he would like to go and would like to play. So if the feelings are positive, Gareth will come.”
