Mourinho favourite ‘concrete target’ as Serie A giant plots Tottenham raid

A Tottenham defender who experienced a new lease of life under Jose Mourinho has emerged as a ‘concrete target’ target for AC Milan.

Spurs finished the season strongly under Mourinho, leapfrogging Wolves to secure Europa League qualification on the final day.

Several areas of his squad are set to be addressed this summer, however, with a surprise name being linked to finally fill the Harry Kane back-up void.

One position that has enjoyed stability under Mourinho, however, is right-back.

Following the departure of Kieran Trippier and loan stint of Kyle Walker-Peters, the position was entrusted entirely to Serge Aurier.

Despite lapses in concentration under former boss Mauricio Pochettino, Aurier has adapted well under Mourinho.

The full-back put in several improved defensive displays, and combined them with his trademark attacking prowess which returned two goals and eight assists in the campaign.

However, according to Sky Sports, his performances have made him a ‘concrete target’ for AC Milan.

The Rossoneri also failed to qualify for the Champions League, and could sell either Davide Calabria or Andrea Conti as a result.

Aurier would be an ideal replacement, but Monaco have also been linked with a swoop.

The Ivory Coast man has two years remaining on his current deal, and at 27, chairman Daniel Levy could be faced with an agonising decision.

Spurs hotshot aiming to emulate Kane

Meanwhile, Tottenham teenager Troy Parrott is looking to follow in Harry Kane’s footsteps after signing for Millwall on a season’s loan.

The 18-year-old Republic of Ireland striker will spend next season in south London after making four first-team appearances for Spurs last term.

“I’m buzzing to get straight into things, I’m really looking forward to it,” Parrott told millwallfc.co.uk.

“The crowd, the club itself – I’ve heard a lot of good things.

“When I’ve watched games, the littlest of things gets them going. I want to be a part of something like that.

“It’s not hard to see from the outside that all (the fans) are looking for is someone to give 100% every game.”

England captain Kane spent the second half of the 2011-12 season on loan at Millwall, scoring nine goals across 27 appearances.
