Orta, Radrizzani in Valencia to seal striker deal with new fee quoted

Leeds’ majority shareholder Andrea Radrizzani and sporting director Victor Orta are reportedly in Valencia and close to reaching a deal to bring Rodrigo Moreno to Elland Road.

The Whites have identified attack as an area of priority in this summer’s transfer window. Boss Marcelo Bielsa wants support up top for Patrick Bamford after Jean-Kevin Augustin’s failed loan move.

Reports have linked several players with a move to West Yorkshire. AC Milan’s Rafael Leao is allegedly a target, as is Stuttgart’s Nicolas Gonzales.

However, speculation has stepped up in recent days that Valencia’s Moreno is top of Leeds’ shortlist.

The LaLiga side are in financial turmoil and need to sell up. Indeed, they have already sold Manchester City-bound Ferran Torres – among others – but are pressing on.

According to AS, Leeds are taking advantage and have sent top officials Radrizzani and Orta to Spain to seal Moreno’s signing.

The source claims the pair will meet with Valencia president Anil Murthy to thrash out an agreement.

What’s more, while previous suggestions were that Valencia wanted between €25million and €30million (£22.5million – £27million), AS adds that a deal could cost up to €40million (£36million).

There are “economic differences” between the two clubs, which they will likely resolve.

Radrizzani did hint earlier this summer that he could break Leeds’ transfer record in a bid to fund what he hopes is a stable Premier League return for the club.

With Valencia ratifying several sales, Mundo Deportivo has claimed they have found Moreno’s replacement.

Javi Gracia’s side want to sign Borja Mayoral, who has played on loan at Levante from Real Madrid in the previous two seasons.

Indeed, AS now adds that “everything seems to indicate” he will move to Valencia.

Meanwhile, former goalkeeper Paul Robinson believes Bielsa has what it takes to help John Stones rediscover his form.

Stones is reportedly a target for several clubs after falling out of favour at Manchester City.

And Robinson thinks Whites boss Bielsa could work with the England international to revive his career.
