Paper Talk: Man Utd, Everton chasing LaLiga winger with £80m exit clause; City set wheels in motion over Messi deal

Manchester United, Everton and Leicester are all chasing a winger with an £80m exit clause, while Manchester City have set the wheels in motion over their bid to sign Lionel Messi, according to Tuesday’s transfer gossip.

Manchester United, Leicester and Everton are all reportedly interested in signing Villarreal winger Samuel Chukwueze.

The Nigerian attacker only turned 21 earlier this year, but has been part of the Villarreal first-team since 2018 after being scouted playing in his homeland.

A report from 90min claims that Chukwueze is considering his future in Spain as he looks for a fresh challenge, with the main interest coming from the Premier League.

United, Everton and Leicester are tipped as the latest clubs to begin monitoring the attacker after Chelsea showed their interest prior to bringing in Kai Havertz.

The report adds that Blues boss Frank Lampard remains keen on the player, with doubts over Callum Hudson-Odoi’s long-term future at Stamford Bridge.

Liverpool and Wolves have also been mentioned as potential destinations. But both those clubs are well stocked in the winger department.

90min adds that Villarreal will expect any suitors to meet a release clause in Chukwueze’s contract that is currently in excess of £80m.

The LaLiga side has raised the exit clause of the player twice in the last 16 months in a bid to keep him.

The player’s style has been likened to former Chelsea winger Arjen Robben, while he was also listed as one of UEFA’s 50 young players to watch in 2019/20.
