Paper Talk: Man Utd seriously exploring possibility of signing assist king; Solskjaer target sparks bidding war

Manchester United are seriously exploring bringing an assist king back to the Premier League, while a Red Devils target has sparked a bidding war – all in Thursday’s Paper Talk.

UNITED SERIOUSLY CONSIDERING INTER RAID

Manchester United are reportedly open to the possibility of signing Inter Milan midfielder Christian Eriksen in the new year.

Despite reported interest from the Red Devils at the start of 2020, the Dane ended up moving to Serie A from Tottenham instead.

However, the 28-year-old has failed to make a major impact at Inter, who are prepared to ship him out in January.

Reports in Thursday claim that United may attempt to ‘exploit’ Eriksen’s situation, if he is available for a cut-price fee.

At this stage, it’s unclear whether Inter will try to recoup the £17m they paid Spurs for the playmaker, especially given how his stock has fallen.

Arsenal have also emerged as major suitors for Eriksen, although it’s claimed that Mikel Arteta has already ruled out a move.

The Denmark international was one of the best attacking midfielder’s in the Premier League at the height of his powers.

However, it remains to be seen if he can get back to that level. There must also be doubts over how United would utilise Eriksen, Bruno Fernandes and Paul Pogba in the same team.
