Paper Talk: West Ham make move as top Man Utd strike target is made available for £30m; massive Foden filip

West Ham are on alert after a Man Utd strike target was made available for a bargain £30m, while Phil Foden is set for a bumper new Man City contract, according to Sunday’s transfer gossip.

West Ham are reportedly are on red alert as Lyon prepare to sell striker Moussa Dembele for a cut-price fee.

Hammers boss David Moyes is a massive fan of the former Celtic forward, who is frustrated at being left on bench of the Ligue 1 giants.

The report in the Sun on Sunday claims that the 24-year-old could be open to a second crack at English football after beginning his pro career at Fulham.

The Sun states that insiders claim Lyon are now willing to sell the player for as little as £30million.

However, the price on Dembele’s head could still be an issue for the Hammers, as well as Manchester United, who have been monitoring the player since Romelu Lukaku’s sale in 2019.

The £30m fee will also include significant add-ons which may prove too steep for a player who was also wanted by Tottenham over the summer.

West Ham have money to spend after the last window, when they failed to buy a new frontman.

Moyes has often preferred natural winger Michail Antonio to out and out No.9 Sebastian Haller, and the chance to snap up Dembele for a lower fee could be too good to turn down.

United could yet foil Hammers move

A spanner could yet be thrown in the works, however, if United retain an interest in Dembele.

They signed Edinson Cavani one a one-year deal over the summer. But Ole Gunnar Solskjaer remains in the hunt for a long-term replacement for Lukaku.

Dembele is also likely to want to move to a club playing in Europe, giving United a significant advantage over the Hammers.
