Wolves are plotting a surprise January move for a former Premier League flop, interest in Chelsea’s N’Golo Kante is hotting up, while Patrick Bamford is on standby to win an England call-up, according to Monday’s transfer gossip.
RENATO SANCHES LINKED WITH WOLVES
Wolves are looking to sign rejuventaed Portugal star Renato Sanches in the January window, according to reports.
The winger – the first 2016 winner of the Golden Boy award – saw his career stall upon a switch to Bayern Munich from Benfica that summer.
Tipped for massive things during his formative years at Bayern, Sanches’ career hit the rails at Bayern. He made just 53 appearances in three years, scoring just twice.
Indeed, during his time with Bayern he was loaned to then-Premier League Swansea. However, the move did not work out and he looked a shadow of the player who first emerged. In fact, he managed just 15 appearances during his time in south Wales.
However, since a €25m switch to Lille in summer 2019, Sanches has rediscovered his best form.
Still only 23, Calciomercato claims Wolves are very much keen on a deal and could launch a January bid.
The player has made 34 appearances in total, scoring five times. But his overall performances suggests he is now back to his best – and that is reported to have alerted Wolves.
It’s not known what sort of fee would prise him away from Lille. But with three years left on his deal, he’s unlikely to come cheap.
