Spurs field firm Prem interest for underused star as contract decision looms

West Brom would be “very keen” to add Tottenham full-back Danny Rose’s experience in their bid to ensure Premier League survival, according to one journalist.

Rose appears to have no future at Spurs, with the Englishman absent from this season’s Premier League squad.

What’s more, he did not earn a place in the Europa League team. As such, his only match action this season has been for Spurs’ Under-23s side, for whom he has played twice.

Further down the line, however, Rose’s contract runs out next summer. According to talkSPORT, though, Spurs may agree to terminate the full-back‘s contract early.

Indeed, should that happen, he would become a free agent and a potentially lucrative pick-up for the Baggies, who need new signings in order to stay in the top flight.

talkSPORT reporter Alex Crook said: “I was told there was a big chance he could follow Jack Wilshere in the sense that Tottenham could cancel his contract in this window.

“We know he’s not part of Jose Mourinho’s plans.

“West Brom and Sam Allardyce would be very keen to take him to the Hawthorns – whether he would see that as the right club to revive his career, I don’t know.”

Crook added that Rose, 30, will have to think carefully about picking up more minutes.

Indeed, he may soon be in a similar situation to Wilshere, who remains a free agent after leaving West Ham in October. Mesut Ozil, who has also been frozen out at Arsenal, will leave either this month or in the summer.

Rose urged to find match minutes

Danny Rose TEAMtalk

“I can understand why Big Sam would want him, he’s desperate to bring in some Premier League experience,” Crook said.

“But like Wilshere and like Mesut Ozil at Arsenal as well, the time has come for Danny Rose to put his football aspirations ahead of his pay cheque and just get some minutes under his belt.

“This career doesn’t last forever, and at the moment he’s just rotting at Tottenham.”

Rose had enjoyed an esteemed career at Spurs prior to Jose Mourinho’s arrival in the dugout. Since joining from Leeds in 2007, he has made 214 appearances among several loan spells away.
