Tottenham deal for Liverpool tormentor off the cards as agent reveals plan

The agent of Patson Daka has reportedly confirmed that the RB Salzburg striker intends to stay in Austria, amid interest from Tottenham.

Spurs boss Jose Mourinho is looking to add a new striker to his ranks to support Harry Kane next season. Indeed, while Mourinho has several wide attacking players, he lacks top back-up to the England captain.

Previous reports claimed Tottenham were keen on Callum Wilson, who has now left Bournemouth for Newcastle.

More recently, though, Spurs have allegedly added three more strikers to their shortlist. Zambia international Daka is among them, along with Habib Diallo and Arkadiusz Milik.

However, according to the Evening Standard, the player’s agent has had his say on proceedings.

Former Spurs striker Freddie Kanoute has told Tottenham officials that Daka wants to stay at his current employers, at least until the January transfer window.

The newspaper carries no comments from Kanoute, only the latest developments from his discussions with his client.

Daka recently caught the eye in a pre-season friendly, scoring twice in a fantastic first-half performance against Liverpool.

The 21-year-old moved to Austria in 2017, making his first-team impact in the 2018/19 season.

SPURS’ MILIK DEAL LOOKS A STRETCH

What’s more, the source claims Spurs’ move for Milik now looks out of reach. Napoli are demanding €30million (£27.6m) for the Poland international, a fee Tottenham are unwilling to pay.

Spurs are operating on a reduced budget due to the financial impact of the coronavirus pandemic.

Indeed, Mourinho insisted earlier this year that his side would not be spending “rivers of money” this transfer window.

His club have spent to bring in Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg from Southampton and Matt Doherty from Wolves so far.

Tottenham are also keen to add to their attack given the tumultuous injury concerns they had last term.

Kane was out with a serious hamstring issue, while the likes of Son Heung-min and Steven Bergwijn also needed time on the treatment table.
