Chelsea are confident of signing Manchester United starlet Angel Gomes, reports claim. The 19-year-old, whose contract keeping him at Old Trafford runs out this summer, has made just six appearances for the Red Devils this season. Gomes is believed to want first-team assurances from United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer before committing to a new long-term contract. He could fancy his chances at Chelsea, with manager Frank Lampard known for giving youngsters a chance. Blues academy graduates Tammy Abraham, Fikayo Tomori and Mason Mount have featured heavily in the first-team this term. (Mirror)

Joan Laporta wants Pep Guardiola to return as Barcelona boss next summer if he wins his 2021 bid to become the club’s new president. Laporta held the role from 2003 to 2010 and worked with Guardiola during that time. The Spaniard won three LaLiga titles and two European Cups during a four-year spell in charge at the Nou Camp. He has tasted more success with Man City, lifting back-to-back Premier League titles and Carabao Cups, as well as the FA Cup last season. (ESPN)

Juan Foyth’s agent does not think the Tottenham defender has a future under Jose Mourinho. The 22-year-old has played just three times since Mourinho replaced Mauricio Pochettino as Spurs boss last November. Claudio Curti is set for talks with Tottenham over the future of his client. Foyth has been linked with a summer move to Barcelona, but Curti played down those reports. (FULL STORY)

Crystal Palace view Sean Dyche as a possible long-term successor to Roy Hodgson. The Burnley boss has solidified his side’s place in the Premier League over the past four years, establishing his reputation as a fine manager. Hodgson, 72, recently signed a one-year contract extension at Palace, but when the time comes, the Eagles will turn their attention to Dyche. (Mirror)

Newcastle are willing to spend £53million to sign Real Madrid forward Gareth Bale. The Magpies are planning a huge summer spending spree if their proposed £300m Saudi takeover goes through. Bale’s future at Real Madrid has been in doubt for some time, and he almost left the club for the Chinese Super League last summer, but a transfer to Jiangsu Suning fell through. (FourFourTwo)

Roma are set to make a move for Liverpool defender Dejan Lovren this summer. The Croatia international has struggled for playing time at Anfield this season and is behind Virgil van Dijk, Joe Gomez and Joel Matip in the pecking order. Lovren was heavily linked with a Liverpool exit last summer, but nothing materialised. He will be keen to play more first-team football with Euro 2020 taking place next year. (TEAMtalk)

Tottenham’s £55m record signing Tanguy Ndombele is set to stay at the club this summer. The midfielder has been linked with Barcelona, despite struggling form and fitness in his debut season in England. Ndombele was publicly criticised by Spurs boss Jose Mourinho after being substituted at half-time in a 1-1 draw with Burnley. His future was thrown into further doubt when he was put through his paces in an impromptu training session with Mourinho during the coronavirus lockdown last month. (Independent)

Manchester United legend Edwin van der Sar believes his former club need ‘two or three’ new signings to compete with Liverpool and Man City for the Premier League title. The Red Devils have not won a top-flight championship since 2013 when legendary manager Sir Alex Ferguson was in charge. United’s recruitment under current boss Solskjaer has been smart with Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Harry Maguire and Bruno Fernandes impressing at Old Trafford. (FULL STORY)
