West Ham ready to sell £45m Tottenham target Mourinho loves

West Ham have reportedly decided to put Issa Diop up for sale, amid rumours that he could join Tottenham this summer.

Foot Mercato claimed in May that Spurs wanted to sign Diop, and that the central defender was willing to move to north London.

Sky Sports now reports that the Hammers want £45million for the imposing defender. Adding that they will accept an offer from their London rivals if it matches their valuation.

Diop has previously impressed Tottenham boss Jose Mourinho. The Portuguese said the centre-back performed like a ‘monster’ against his Manchester United side back in 2018.

West Ham boss David Moyes is looking to bring in a more experienced centre-back this summer. And that has led to the reports that the former Toulouse star could be sacrificed.

Mourinho is the market for a new central defender after Jan Vertonghen was allowed to leave on a free transfer. There are also doubts over Juan Foyth’s long-term future at the club.

Norwich star Ben Godfrey has also been mentioned as a target, but Diop has more top-flight experience to his name.

Tottenham currently have Toby Alderweireld, Eric Dier, Japhet Tanganga and Davinson Sanchez as centre-back options, although Dier could used in midfield again next season and Tanganga can be deployed at right-back.

AURIER PRICE DROP

Tottenham are willing to allow Serge Aurier to leave for AC Milan for £13.5million, £4.5million less than their initial asking price, according to a report.

Spurs are willing to hand Jose Mourinho new signings this summer but realise the need to raise funds first. Indeed, player sales could be the favoured route given the recent plunge in revenue.

Tottenham have already conducted such business; they brought in Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg from Southampton with Kyle Walker-Peters going the other way.

However, recent reports have suggested Aurier is another player who could go. AC Milan are keen as they look to find a better option at right-back than Andrea Conti and Davide Calabria.

And while one claim said Tottenham chairman Daneil Levy intended to make his money back on the Frenchman, the latest report claims otherwise. Read more…
