Wolves ready approach as Liverpool make clear decision on fringe star

Divock Origi is emerging as a serious January target for Wolves amid reports in Belgium that Liverpool have made their stance clear on the striker.

Origi has largely struggled to claim a regular spot in Jurgen Klopp’s team since his move to Anfield in 2015.

Indeed, that is despite him masterminding the Reds’ Champions League triumph in 2019 with three crucial goals. What’s more, he has come up with several important strikes in the Premier League.

However, the 25-year-old has only made seven outings this campaign, including playing just seven minutes of Premier League football.

Origi has long found himself behind Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino in the Liverpool pecking order.

But he has also recently fell behind Takumi Minamino; the Japan international justified another Premier League start on Saturday with a goal inside five minutes at Crystal Palace.

Previous reports have suggested that Diogo Jota’s form could also lead Klopp to sanction Origi’s exit.

Now, according to HLN, Liverpool have now made it clear to Origi that he is free to leave in Janaury. As per the Belgian outlet, Origi will be allowed to leave either on a permanent deal or on loan in when the window opens next week.

And it’s also reported that Wolves are seriously considering an approach. Nuno Espirito Santo’s side are in the hunt to sign a new striker following an injury to Raul Jimenez.

The Mexican looks set to miss a significant portion of the campaign with a fractured skull.

They have been linked with a move for Celtic striker Odsonne Edouard. Indeed, it’s reported an initial £18m offer would be lodged.

However, with Celtic likely to seek nearer £25m, Origi looks set to emerge as a cheaper alternative.

The report claims the Midlands side are not alone in their pursuit for the Belgium, however. Brighton, Newcastle and Aston Villa are all named as potential suitors too for the 25-year-old.

Club Brugges and Royal Antwerp are also reportedly keen on bringing the striker back to his homeland.
